BurgerParity (burgerparity.app) is run by Matthias Marchione. We built a free tool, not a data business. This page explains, in plain English, what little personal data we handle and the rights you have over it under the GDPR.

The short version

  • If you join a wishlist or send a feature request, we store what you submitted (and your email, if you gave one). Nothing else.
  • The calculator runs on the numbers you type. We do not store your calculations.
  • Our audience stats are cookieless: no cookies, no persistent identifier on your device, no cross-site tracking.
  • We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we never sell your data.

Who is responsible for your data

The data controller is Matthias Marchione, reachable at hello@burgerparity.app. For anything about your personal data, that address is the fastest way to reach a human.

What we collect, and why

Wishlist sign-ups

When you ask to be notified about an upcoming tool, we store your email address, which tool you signed up for, and the date you signed up. The date doubles as the record of your consent. We do not ask for your name, and we do not store your IP address with your email.

Lawful basis: your consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)), which you give by ticking the box on the form. You can withdraw it at any time (see your rights below).

Purpose: to send you a small number of emails about the specific tool you asked about, and nothing else. No newsletter, no marketing blasts.

Feature requests

When you send us a feature request, we store the text of your request and, only if you choose to leave one, your email address so we can reply. The email is optional; an anonymous request is perfectly fine. The text of requests is shown publicly on the site so others can upvote them; the email never is.

If you upvote a request, we store a salted hash of your IP address so each person counts once. The raw IP address itself is never stored, and the hash cannot be reversed into it.

Lawful basis: your consent for the request itself (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)); our legitimate interest in keeping votes fair for the vote hash (Article 6(1)(f)).

Audience analytics (cookieless)

We use DataFast in its cookieless mode to understand how the site is used: which pages are visited, where visitors come from, which features get used (for example "someone ran the calculator" or "someone joined the wishlist"). This works without cookies and without storing any identifier on your device: no cross-site tracking, no advertising profile, and the events we send never contain your email or the text you type.

Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in understanding and improving a free tool (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). Because it sets no cookie and stores no identifier on your device, no consent banner is required for it.

Technical logs

Like any website, our server keeps short-lived technical logs (for example the requesting IP address, the time, and the page requested) to keep the service secure and to prevent abuse. These are rotated and deleted on a short cycle.

Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure, working service (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).

The calculator

The parity calculator sends the base price and country you choose to our server to compute prices, then sends the result back. We do not store those inputs or results against you.

Cookies

We do not use tracking, advertising, or analytics cookies. Even our audience analytics are cookieless (see above). Any cookie we ever set would be strictly necessary to make the site work, and we will update this page before that changes.

How long we keep it

  • Wishlist email: until the tool has launched and you have been notified, or until you ask us to delete it, whichever comes first.
  • Technical logs: a short retention window, then deleted.

Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent your data. We rely on a small number of processors who act on our instructions:

  • Hosting: [FILL: hosting provider, e.g. Hetzner Online GmbH] stores the data on our behalf.
  • Email delivery: when we send you the launch email, we may use an email delivery provider to get it to your inbox.
  • Analytics: DataFast processes cookieless, aggregated usage statistics for us (no cookies, no identifier stored on your device).

If any processor is located outside the European Economic Area, we make sure an appropriate transfer safeguard (such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses) is in place.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can, at any time:

  • ask for a copy of the data we hold about you (access),
  • correct it if it is wrong (rectification),
  • have it deleted (erasure),
  • restrict or object to how we use it,
  • receive it in a portable format (portability),
  • withdraw your consent, which is as easy as it was to give.

To exercise any of these, email hello@burgerparity.app. We will respond within one month. If you are in the EU and think we have mishandled your data, you also have the right to complain to your local supervisory authority (in France, the CNIL, at cnil.fr).

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and the date at the top. For anything significant, we will do our best to tell wishlist subscribers directly.
